Sustainability

Our team at WHSKY® believe in one fundamental desire to protect our natural planet. Sustainability and consumption do not always go easily hand in hand, however our we challenge ourselves to be the best possible versions when it comes to production and ingenuity.

We pride ourselves on using premium fabrics which are carefully selected for their durability, softness, and comfort. This ensures that your garments have a luxurious feel and are long-lasting.

Our premium fabrics have a refined look and feel that can elevate the overall appearance of your clothing. They drape well, have better colour retention, and often come with unique textures or finishes that add a touch of sophistication to your designs.

Our Mission

We are on a mission to help shift the course of the fashion and manufacturing industries from within and provide premium sustainable clothing to everyone across the globe.

Whilst the use of organic cotton remains a tiny fraction of the global supply, accounting for under 1% of total cotton production, we aim to use 100% recyclable materials wherever possible with most of our products being produced with the finest quality 100% organic cotton.

What Is Organic Cotton?

To put it simply, organic cotton is a more sustainable solution. It is grown without pesticides from seeds that have not been genetically.

Organic farming practices avoid using harmful chemicals while aiming for environmental sustainability and the use of fewer resources. Chemical-free agricultural land even stays fertile much longer than land hampered by the constant use of pesticides, so organic cotton farmers generally have a longer cotton commodity lifespan than otherwise.

The benefits are clear: using fewer pesticides means that workers’ health improves dramatically, communities can live in relative health with access to clean water and food supplies, and the land has a longer lifespan because chemicals are not damaging it. It also means the clothes we wear are safer for us since they don’t contain abundance of chemicals used in cotton fabrics.

Choosing sustainable organic cotton has numerous benefits, including:

1. Environmental Sustainability: Organic cotton is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, fertilisers, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). This reduces the negative impact on the environment, conserves biodiversity, and helps maintain soil fertility.

2. Healthier for Farmers and Workers: By avoiding the use of harmful chemicals, organic cotton farming provides a safer and healthier working environment for farmers and workers. It reduces their exposure to toxic substances, preventing health issues associated with pesticide exposure.

3. Reduced Water Usage: Organic cotton farming typically utilises practices that promote water conservation, such as rainwater harvesting and efficient irrigation techniques. This helps to minimise the water footprint of cotton production.

4. Better Soil Quality: Organic farming practices focus on improving soil health and fertility through methods like crop rotation, composting, and the use of natural fertilisers. This enhances the long-term sustainability of the land and promotes biodiversity.

5. Enhanced Quality of Cotton: Organic cotton is often of higher quality compared to conventionally grown cotton. It is softer, hypoallergenic, and less likely to cause skin irritation or allergies.

6. Ethical Standards: Organic cotton is often associated with fair trade and ethical production practices. This ensures that workers receive fair wages, safe working conditions, and other social benefits.

7. Support for Sustainable Fashion: Choosing sustainable organic cotton supports the growth of the sustainable fashion industry. It encourages the use of eco-friendly materials and promotes a more responsible and conscious approach to clothing production.
